Crib Roommates, Inc. (“Crib,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile app, website, and services (collectively, the “Platform”). By accessing or using Crib, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

Information We Collect

When you create an account or interact with the Platform, we collect information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you. This includes information you provide directly such as your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, gender identity, age, location, roommate preferences, biography, and any messages or content you upload. If you subscribe to paid features, we may collect billing and payment details through our payment processor.

We also collect information automatically when you use the Platform. This includes device information such as operating system, browser, mobile carrier, device ID, and IP address. We log activity such as the pages you view, the features you use, clicks, time spent on the app, and crash reports. If you allow location access, we may collect your device’s approximate or precise location to improve matches and features. If you sign up using a third-party service like Google or Apple, we may receive profile data from those services such as your name and email address.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the Platform. This includes creating and managing your account, matching you with potential roommates, showing your profile to other users, facilitating communications, sending transactional emails and notifications, and delivering customer support. We also use your information to analyze usage trends, test new features, improve performance, ensure safety, and prevent fraud or abuse. In some cases, we may use your information to comply with legal obligations or enforce our terms of service.

We may use non-personal or de-identified data for product development, marketing, analytics, and other business purposes. We do not use your personal information to make automated decisions without human involvement that would significantly affect you.

Sharing of Information

Your profile and certain information you submit to the Platform may be visible to other users. This includes your name, profile photo, bio, roommate preferences, and other publicly viewable content. You control what you share and can update or delete your information at any time in the app settings.

We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform. These include hosting services, customer support tools, messaging services, analytics providers, and payment processors. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are only authorized to use your data to the extent necessary to perform services for us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, subpoena, legal process, or to protect our legal rights or the rights and safety of others. In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of the transaction.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide the services you request. We may also retain certain information after account deletion as required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or ensure security. When we no longer need your information, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Your Rights and Choices

You may access, update, or delete your profile information at any time through the app. You can also request that we delete your account by contacting cribapp.co@gmail.com. If you wish to opt out of marketing communications, you may do so by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those messages. Disabling location permissions in your device settings will stop location tracking. You can also request a copy of your personal data or request that we delete your data entirely by contacting cribapp.co@gmail.com.

We will respond to all requests in accordance with applicable laws. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing any request.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, mobile identifiers, and similar technologies to improve the user experience, remember preferences, measure performance, and deliver personalized content. These tools help us understand how users interact with the Platform and where we can make improvements. You can adjust your browser or mobile device settings to refuse cookies, but doing so may limit certain features of the Platform.

Security

We take security seriously and implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the Platform at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

Children’s Privacy

Crib is intended only for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child, we will delete it as quickly as possible. If you believe we may have information from or about a child, please contact us immediately.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to support key functionality, analytics, and payments. These include services such as Firebase, Stripe, Google Analytics, Google Maps, and others. These third parties may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external service linked to or integrated with the Platform. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services.

International Data Transfers

Crib is operated in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where we or our service providers are located. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your data to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These include the right to know what personal information we collect and use, the right to request deletion of your data, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. Crib does not sell your personal data. To make a CCPA request, email cribapp.co@gmail.com and include “CCPA Request” in the subject line. We will verify your request and respond within the time period required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Platform or via email. Continued use of the Platform after changes go into effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. You are responsible for reviewing the latest version of this Privacy Policy periodically.
